As North Vancouver BC’s landscape design service we create engaging outdoor spaces that utilize plants, flowers, trees, shrubs, and a variety of other natural elements. But having years of experience in garden design we can also provide advice and recommendations as to which species and types of plants, soil, trees, and other flora should be included in the design of your garden and other outdoor spaces. We have an in-depth understanding of how they can be leveraged for aesthetics and function alike. The selection and integration of these natural elements must be done with care and consider the distinctive climate of the Lower Mainland of BC. Considerations such as soil composition and how to incorporate the plants into your existing habitat are key.

Whether your property already has stunning large trees, or if you have downtown, small space that needs some greenery, we will ensure your home has adequate garden space. Trees and plants are what make our spaces come to life — literally! Without these beautiful gardens, hardscape patios and decks are bland and cold. As there are so many different garden styles, Calumma likes to influence your design based off of inspirational images. If you prefer a manicured formal garden, we may propose evergreen hedging, mass planting, straight lines, and specimen trees. Should you want to bring a more natural vibe into the space, we may propose more native plantings, curvy lines and layers of shrubs and perennials to achieve that vision. 

We LOVE to incorporate existing trees into the landscape, and prefer not to remove large trees unless completely necessary. Having mature trees in your space is good for the earth AND good for property value! Working with large trees will instantly improve the appearance of your space, making it look like it has been there much longer.  If you don’t have any large trees, and have more of a “concrete jungle” downtown space, we would love to bring the garden to you. Building perimeter gardens, green living walls, or simply adding some specimen trees and hedging can really enhance your downtown space and is guaranteed to soothe the soul.
