About the Project:
The client’s vision for backyard design styled in a natural / cottage vibe was a challenge we were ready to undertake. A full front and back yard redo complete with high end materials and luxurious features were on the wish list. The design intention: bring the cottage country into the client’s back yard. This 35' x 40' backyard felt considerably more expansive with features that included covered space and outdoor kitchen and double sided fire place that provided warmth and extended the season. The waterfall feature, complete with fish, added tranquility and naturalization. A blend of natural stone materials, granite boulders and natural style planting design combined with modern precast flooring brought this project together in harmony with the home.

"Taylor incorporated all our ideas into a beautiful design and proposed more elements to tie everything together. We were so impressed that we extended the project to the front yard and driveway."

A blank canvas was given to come up with a landscape for this backyard design. We started with a full demolition of the existing patio and grass space, and began the construction by setting our grades and preparing bases for concrete footings for the kitchen and fireplace.
The existing front entrance landscaping was demolished and a large tree removed as per the request of the home owner. We prepare the base and footings for the decorative walls
Sono-tube footings are required for structural support for cold winters to prevent the kitchen from shifting. This footing was also required to be strong enough to hold the fireplace and prevent the roof from dipping in the middle.
Block work for the fireplace, and the framing of the pavillion roof were completed simultaneously. This would ensure the roof could be fastened into the chimney of the fireplace for structural support.
veneers were added to the cinder block for a natural stone finish. Notice the rock scribed into the corner of the kitchen for added naturalization!
Scaffolding set up to assist with working on the veneer work, as well as the roof structure. Notice the beam resting inside the chimney.
